In April of this year I was introduced to what would soon become a huge part of my life and my passion; The Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association. Back in November of 2010 I was my cousin John Keene’s, Expert #410, “Plus 1” to the CMRA end of the year Banquet. I don’t remember a day that I had ever been that emotionally unstable in my whole life as I was that day. My cousin was trying to cheer me up and decided he would take me to the Motorcycle Exhibit and then later to the Banquet. Little did I know that I would be so welcomed and feel so accepted on such a day when all I wanted to do was curl up in my bed and cry.
It’s funny how life works out, because if I hadn’t have been through the circumstances that brought me to the CMRA Banquet with John, then I wouldn’t be a part of the most amazing Roadracing family that is the CMRA. Few people know the backstory, nor do they understand the gravity that came with being introduced to the amazing passion that is Roadracing.
As a singer, my first response to big events is, “Anybody need someone to sing the National Anthem?!” My favorite thing in this world is to sing. Clearly. So in April I was invited to come and sing the National Anthem for the CMRA Races at Texas World Speedway. It couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. I had just celebrated my 24th birthday, was finally coming out of the mess I was in, and couldn’t be more ready to take life by the reigns again.
TWS was one of the best weekends of my life. I brought my show, “The Natalie Gore Show” and got to document what I like to call my “turning point”. Not to mention, I fell in love.
I fell in love with the sound of the racetrack. The roaring of two wheels speeding by the finish line. Laughter as families gather in the paddock. The announcer sounding off with “First Call, Race 1”. The smell of leathers and gasoline. The sight of colors everywhere you look, bright orange tents, deep purple, blue, red, and green bikes, and the hot pavement awaiting the arrival of competition.
When you first look at me you probably think girly girl. And that’s fine, because for the most part I am. I do not like to try risky things. I certainly don’t like to do anything dangerous. And I’m still the girl that yells everytime I’m on the back of a motorcycle for whoever is driving to “PLEASE SLOW DOWN!” But I did discover a part of me that I never knew. An adventurous side that is ready to throw everything I’ve ever been afraid of out the window and just grab life by the handle-bars, push my limit, and live fearless.
The CMRA has made an impact on my life that I never thought possible. I’ve never met a group of people more accepting, more kind, more willing to give, and yet still live life to the fullest. It’s inspiring. I’m the type of person that strives for competition. I absolutely do not like to lose. I’m driven and passionate about what I believe in and I refuse to compromise anything that could come between what I believe and the way I live my life.
Being a part of the CMRA Races, filming “The Natalie Gore Show”, and singing the National Anthem is an honor. What you guys do is incredible. Racing in the rain. Racing in the most unbearable heat imagined. Racing when the man in front of you just flew off the track. Never giving up. Pressing on towards your dreams and goals. It is an example to many.
I want to say thank you for everything that yall have done for me. For watching my shows, buying my music, and letting me get a taste of what it’s like to live fearless.
See you at Eagle’s Canyon. Kick some butt!!
With Love,
Natalie
